The Castello alfonsino (also Castel Rosso, after the colour of the carparo blocks from which it was built, or Castello di Mare) is a coastal fortress on the Isola di Sant'Andrea at the entrance to the harbour of Brindisi in the Italian region of Apulia. The fortress is connected with the Forte a Mare (also Forte di Brindisi), whose construction, begun in 1558 under the reign of King Philip II of Spain, the son of King Charles V, lasted a good 46 years.
