The Valley of the Seven Castles

6 castles and 1 ruin along about 17 km, Koerich to Mersch — every stop mapped, photographed and in travel order.

Seven castles stand along the Eisch in western Luxembourg, which is why the valley is signposted as the Vallée des Sept Châteaux. Ansembourg has two of them — the medieval castle high above the village and, a kilometre below it, the house Thomas Bidart built in 1639 with the terraced gardens. Hollenfels keeps a 39-metre keep of 1380.
