Vondern Castle stands in the Vondern district of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Oberhausen. It was a fief of the counts and dukes of Cleves and was first documented in the 13th century. Today owned by the city of Oberhausen, the Förderkreis Burg Vondern e. V. has cared for the historic buildings since 1982; they were placed under monument protection in 1987 as the oldest listed building in the city of Oberhausen.

The name of the complex derives from the Middle High German term "vonder" (also "funder"), which describes a narrow footbridge over a watercourse.
