Haj-Nehaj
🇲🇪 Montenegro
Haj-Nehaj (Haj-Nehaj, Хај-Нехај) is a fortress in Montenegro, about 1 km north-west of Sutomore. The fortress lies at an altitude of 231 m above sea level. Above the main entrance to Haj-Nehaj one can see the coat of arms of the Republic of Venice (a winged lion) carved in stone. The town is hard to reach from all sides except the west, where there is an entrance. At the entrance, where three building phases can be seen, a water cistern was later added. At the highest point of the hill, which lies within the town, stands a church dedicated to Saint Demetrius, which once had two altars (Catholic and Orthodox) and was built before the fortress was constructed. There are round towers and many loopholes built in a later period. On the almost sheer rock at the far eastern part a powder magazine is visible.
