Description

Hofzumberge Castle (Latvian: Kalnamuiža) was a castle of the Livonian commandery of Doblen, later a castle of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. The castle was built in the 14th century on the border between Semigallia and Lithuania to protect against Lithuanian incursions. To this day the remains of the castle's southeastern, southwestern and northwestern walls survive to a height of 7 to 8 metres in Tērvete.
