Pontivy Castle, also called Château de Rohan, was built in the 15th and 16th centuries by the Rohan family.
The castle has been listed as a historic monument since 26 October 1925; the façades, roofs, courtyards and moats have been protected since 30 December 1953. It was owned by Josselin de Rohan-Chabot, 14th Duc de Rohan, who sold it to the town of Pontivy in October 2015 for a symbolic euro.
