Castillo San José (also called Castillo Blanco or del Rosario) was a Spanish fort built during the Captaincy in the city of Valparaíso in the region of the same name. The castle was built between 1682 and 1692 at the request of the then Governor of Chile José de Garro, hence its name. Partially destroyed in the earthquake of 1730, its demolition was decided after it suffered irreparable damage in the earthquake of 1822.
