The town of Murska Sobota (German: Olsnitz, Hungarian: Muraszombat, Prekmurje Slovene: Mürska Subouta, Mürska Sobota) is a small town in the extreme northeast of Slovenia, in the Ravensko plain of the historic region of Prekmurje. It is the main town of the Municipality of Murska Sobota.
In 2006 the town was raised to the episcopal seat of the newly established Diocese of Murska Sobota, a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Maribor.
The Municipality of Murska Sobota (Slovene: Mestna občina) had 18,622 inhabitants in 2021, and the town itself had 11,025.
