The Oranje Nassau Coal Mine Site is the site of the oldest former coal mine in Indonesia, worked by the Dutch East Indies in 1849. The site is located in the village of Lok Tunggul, Pengaron district, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. When it was established, the mine site occupied the territory of the Kayutangi Residency belonging to the Sultanate of Banjarmasin and was part of the Riam Kiwa district.

The area of the Oranje Nassau Coal Mine Site is about 169.6 m2 (Research Team of the Banjarmasin Archaeological Office 2012:29). The landscape of the Oranje Nassau coal mine site is hilly and forms part of Mount Pagaran, flanked by the Riam Kiwa River to the north and the Maniapun Kecil River to the south of the site.

There are several monumental objects not far from the bank of the Maniapun Kecil River, among them the structure of the Sumur Putaran, technically named Verticale Doorsnede en Aanzicht van het Machinegebouw der Mijn.

Among local people the site is better known by the name "lubang putaran". The site lies in the area of the Barito basin and is located on Mount Pengaron. It is composed of coal with clay interbeds originating from the Tanjung Formation. Research results give it an age of 65–36.5 million years ago (Eocene) up to the formation of a paralic to shallow-marine depositional environment.
