Piast Castle in Chojnów
🇵🇱 Poland
Piast Castle in Chojnów, built in the second half of the 13th century, was completely rebuilt after being burned by the Hussites, in 1546–1548, by Franciszek Parr (Pario), court architect of the Piasts of Legnica and Brzeg. From that time comes the portal with busts of Frederick III and his wife Catherine of Mecklenburg (1518-1581) placed above the door. In the 18th century, after great fires in Chojnów, half the castle was demolished; only the north-western wing did not burn down. Today the building houses the regional museum.
