Over the centuries the castle changed owners: for the longest time (from the beginning of the 16th century) it belonged to the Wrocław merchant family Sauerman (later Saur). The transfer of the family's seat to Laskowice at the beginning of the 19th century caused the Jelcz castle to fall slowly into ruin, especially once a brewery was set up in it.
