The Castle of Varnakas (in Greek: Κάστρο του Βάρνακα) or Varnazza (in Greek: Βαρνάτσας) is a Byzantine castle in the regional unit of Aetolia-Acarnania near the village of Mýtikas and the village of Varnakas, built on a steep rock.
The castle was built in the 13th century by the despots of Epirus in a position that controlled the pass of the same name, which was an important route of the period. In 1460 the castle was taken by the Ottomans. During the Greek War of Independence of 1821 it was already mentioned as being in ruins, but also as the birthplace of the revolutionary general Georgios Varnakiotis.
