Castle
Château de Pierreclos
🇫🇷 France · 12th century
The Château de Pierreclos stands in the commune of Pierreclos in Saône-et-Loire, in the south of the historic region of Burgundy, now part of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. The village of Pierreclos lies about 15 km west of Mâcon, close to the rock of Solutré and the abbey of Cluny. The castle occupies the southern tip of a rocky knoll rising 20 metres above the valley of the Petite Grosne and the surrounding vineyards. Today it is the setting for a range of activities: a wine estate certified organic, weddings, receptions, guest rooms, historical visits and a shop selling regional produce. It is one of the fourteen exceptional sites open to the public brought together over the past twenty years or so under « La Route des châteaux en Bourgogne du Sud ».
