Fredriksborg Fortress is a fortification situated in Värmdö Municipality at the Oxdjupet, the approach to Stockholm. The fortress consists of a tower, a shore fortification and inner courtyards. The complex was part of the defensive works which were built on the Swedish east coast after the Russian Pillage of 1719 in order to protect Stockholm.

The fortress was completed in 1735 and received the name Fredriksborg after King Fredrik I. In its time it was one of the strongest fortresses in Europe. In the 19th century the complex fell into decay and it was replaced by Vaxholm Fortress. In the years 1870 to 1877 another fortress was built opposite Fredriksborg Fortress. This bore the name Oskar-Fredriksborg Fortress. Fredriksborg Fortress is today administered by the Statens fastighetsverk and has been designated a state architectural monument (byggnadsminne) since 1935.
