Leuchtenburg is a hilltop castle near Seitenroda in Thuringia. The restored medieval castle complex is used for tourism and houses the exhibition Porzellanwelten Leuchtenburg, a museum, and, as part of a modern annex, a walkway projecting into the valley known as the "Path of Wishes". The castle, on a widely visible conical hill 395 m above sea level, offers a broad panoramic view over the middle Saale valley and the Thuringian Holzland. Leuchtenburg is known as the "Queen of the Saale Valley". In its long and eventful history the castle complex served as a medieval administrative seat, a poorhouse, an asylum and a prison, and since the late 19th century it has been used for tourism.
