The Mozhaysk Kremlin is a no-longer-extant white-stone (before the 16th century wooden) fortress in the town of Mozhaysk, an important western outpost of the Russian state.
At present there remain of the kremlin the earthen defensive ramparts, which preserve fragments of white-stone towers and of walls of various periods, and intact fortress gates with 11 metres of fortress wall, built into the New St Nicholas Cathedral.
It was here that the princely fortress was founded which gave rise to the town of Mozhaysk. At present it is the cultural and historical centre of the town. It stands on Cathedral Hill along the Mozhayka River.
