The ruins of Starhrad (literally "Old Castle"; also Starý hrad, Varínsky hrad or Varín, historical names Warna, Varna, Owar, Owaar, Starigrad) lie in northern Slovakia in the Malá Fatra, on a high rock above the right side of the Váh river, not far from the municipality of Nezbudská Lúčka. Together with Strečno Castle a few kilometres downstream, Starhrad protected the route through the narrow Domašínsky meander pass.
