Saflaouro Castle
🇬🇷 Greece
Saflaouro Castle, or the Castle of Saflaouros, also referred to as the Castle of Lantzounato, or Saflaouri, or Savlaouros, or Saflaouros, or the Castle of Saflaouros or the Castle of Tsaflaouros, is an old medieval castle near the village of Lantzounato, a mountain settlement near Raptopoulo which administratively belongs to the municipality of Trifylia in the prefecture of Messenia.
The Palaiokastro at Lantzounato is regarded as a fortress of the Byzantine-post-Byzantine period and is conjectured to have been built at the end of the 13th or the beginning of the 14th century. The Palaiokastro of the village of Lantzounato broadly presents considerable similarities with the Castle of Milas and probably served as an observation post and outpost controlling the passage to and from Kyparissia.
