The Small Fort of Zegrze Fortress (Polish: Umocnienie Małe Twierdzy Zegrze) is one of two works of the Zegrze Fortress near Zegrze – on the northern bank of the Narew, which formerly flowed here and is today part of the Zegrze Reservoir. The fortress was built from 1892 to 1895 by the Russian occupying power as part of the Greater Warsaw fortress system and secured the region to the north and east. Modernised while still before the First World War, the complex was among the most innovative forts in the Russian Empire. Although overgrown, it is well preserved to this day. Even though the complex is no longer in use, it still belongs to the Polish army.
