Ruin
Castell de Santueri
🇪🇸 Spain
The Castell de Santueri is the ruin of a rock castle on the 408 m high table mountain Puig de Santueri in the eastern mountains, the Serres de Llevant, in the municipality of Felanitx on Majorca, Spain. It lies about seven kilometres south-east of Felanitx.
In the 14th century a new fortress was built by the Spanish crown on the remains of an earlier hill castle, serving among other things as protection against raids by pirates. From the 18th century the fortress fell into decay. Of the castle, built of white limestone, numerous extensive parts such as enclosing walls and towers survive, showing many structural details such as arrow slits, merlons of the parapet and projecting corbels of the (former) machicolations.
