Wenchangmen is a city gate on the southern side of the Xi'an city wall, located east of Yongningmen, at the southern end of Baishulin, opened in 1984. On the city wall above the gate, to the west, a Kuixing Tower was built in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Kuixing is the god who governs literary fortune in ancient Chinese mythology, and so the newly built city gate below the Kuixing Tower was named "Wenchangmen".
