Yanyi Wei was begun by Lai Fuzhi in the seventh year of the Shunzhi era of the Qing (1650) and completed in the sixteenth year of the Kangxi era (1677). It is rectangular in plan, 41.5 metres long and 31.8 metres wide, covering an area of 1,367.6 square metres, with a floor area of 3,741.12 metres. The enclosing wall is 14.3 metres high.
