Oxyro Nymfaias is a military museum located 17 kilometres north of Komotini near the Greek-Bulgarian border. The fort was built in 1936-1940 and is one of the fortification works of Ioannis Metaxas. The fort of Nymfaia is famous today for the battle that took place on 6-9 April 1941 when the German army attacked and finally captured the fort. Since 2000 Oxyro Nymfaias has operated as a military museum.
To the north-west of the fort the Pontic cultural events Parcharia are organised each year.
